Joyce Ann Edmondson was born of southern parents of no particular faith. As a young girl she was introduced to Christ through her relatives and peers. At the age of 23 she became a Roman Catholic and spent 30 years in service to the church as a teacher and secretary. After Vatican II, Joyce spent five years serving her parish, St. James in North Miami, as Chairperson of the Adult Religious Education Committee. The Committee was active in bringing the changes initiated by Vatican II to the parish level and sponsored four programs of adult education yearly. Prior to this she served as Chairman of the high school division of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine in St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish and as C.C.D. teacher. She was also active in the Legion of Mary, a missionary organization of the Church.  At the age of

58 she received her B.P.S. degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida specializing in Education.

After retiring from the Archdiocese of Miami, she was employed for eleven years as a word processor for Coulter Immunology, a division of the Beckman-Coulter Corporation in South Miami.

Joyce has been writing short stories and poetry for the past ten years, as well as painting pastel portraits of young children. At present she attends St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church in Plantation with her husband, John, a composer/arranger. Together, they have ten grandchildren."
